Primary DAILY PROGRAMS

Explore Nature's primary programs offers students a rich, whole-child learning experience that goes far beyond the walls of a traditional classroom. Our programs approaches learning in a format that embraces social, emotional and well-being with the fundamentals of the Ontario curriculum.

Meaningful Outdoor Learning

Children learn in and through nature, using the natural world as their classroom. Lessons are rooted in curiosity and real-world exploration—making learning active, memorable, and fun, embracing all learning styles and meeting students where they are in their learning journey.

Deeper Cognitive Development

Nature-based play and inquiry based learning support critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving. Students develop a strong foundation in literacy, numeracy, science, and more—often without even realizing they’re “doing school.”

Physical Health & Motor Skills

Daily movement in diverse outdoor spaces helps kids build strength, coordination, balance, and a lifelong appreciation for physical activity. Increased time outside with the ability to move while learning helps primary age students learn in a way that meets their needs.

Social & Emotional Growth

Through collaborative play and group challenges, regular group sessions with our on-staff social worker, children build resilience, empathy, communication, and emotional regulation. Nature encourages calm, focus, and confidence.

Environmental Stewardship

By spending time in nature, kids form a personal connection to the land. They learn to respect and care for the environment, becoming thoughtful, responsible global citizens

Personalized, Child-Led Learning

Forest School values student voice. Children guide their own learning based on their interests, supported by educators who help them dive deeper into what fascinates them. With a ratio of 1 teacher to every 7 students all students have the opportunity to work closely with their educators.

Curriculum-Aligned, Educator-Guided

Led by certified teachers, Forest and Nature Schools align with curriculum goals while expanding how they’re delivered—through storytelling, science walks, journaling, games, and real-life problem-solving.

Whether your child needs a weekly break from the traditional classroom or you are looking for a compliment to your homeschool program Forest School has unique benefits for all students.
